Intermediate uveitis affects the vitreous body and typically affects younger adults and children. It is most commonly idiopathic but can occasionally relate to sarcoidosis, multiple sclerosis, lymphoma, viral infections and inflammatory bowel disease.

Symptoms include floaters and blurry vision in one or both eyes.

Intermediate uveitis required extensive workup including blood tests, chest X-ray and fundus angiography.

Treatment includes local steroid application in form of drops or injections. Occasionally oral steroids are indicated.
